In partnership with Monash University, Active Monash was fortunate to develop a free member seminar on the positive power of exercise.
Graduate Psychology students Shirley Robert, Amber Ross and Nicole Abramowitz presented an engaging discussion around why exercise improves our mental health, and encouraged members to share their stories. The seminar was followed by a catered morning tea which gave the opportunity for members to connect in a social environment.
As well as the science behind how exercise contributes to improving our mental health, the social benefits behind being a part of a community were also discussed, as well as specifics on duration and type of exercise for different age groups. Monash University generously provided follow up calls for members wanting further support and resources.
The slides from the seminar can be found here.
Based off positive feedback from this session, Active Monash are looking to offer future seminars on topics relevant to health and wellbeing.
